Winter isn’t the offseason for everyone in agriculture. Florida farmers take advantage of the state’s mild winter months to grow strawberries. Conditions are often just right for the fruit, resulting in more than $477 million in cash receipts for the state in 2022 alone. That’s nearly an 80% increase over 2013.

High standards and hard-working farmers make sure berries are shipped out quickly after picking, helping extend freshness. Farmers have also pushed new varieties, like the Florida Pearl and Pink-A-Boo pineberries, helping increase consumer interest. Retail partnerships and targeted marketing strategies also help drive demand during the peak season.
