With the recent passage of the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, the U.S. dairy industry is once again promoting the science behind the health benefits of whole milk consumption. While low-fat and fat-free have been available for dairy milk consumers, more and more research points to whole milk with full fat as part of a healthy diet.

Full-fat products have been shown to positively correlate with a lower risk of chronic disease, diabetes and obesity. Consumption of whole milk has also been associated with lower cardiovascular disease and cardiometabolic health. Emerging research on the value of dairy foods, including full-fat versions, is highly relevant as more consumers see the value in the “food is medicine” philosophy.
