Sugar beet harvestWestern Sugar Cooperative territories are witnessing excellent sugar beet crop conditions despite harvest delays. President of the Colorado Sugar Beet Growers Association Jack Breidenback explained that harvest conditions have been on the warm side. Since beet temperatures need to be below 50 degrees, farmers have started harvesting early in the morning and stopped around noon.

Nebraska yields are estimated at 31 tons per acre with 18.9 sugar. Colorado projections include 32.5 tons per acre with an 18.3 sugar content. In the northern region, Billings, Montana, is projecting 32 tons per acre with 18.7 sugar. Lovell, Wyoming, is forecasting 29.5 tons per acre with a 19.2 sugar.
