The World Food Prize Foundation appointed U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack as Chief Executive Officer. The position is effective March 1, 2025. Vilsack was a two-term U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and a former Iowa governor. He has long collaborated with the Foundation.

Vilsack served on The World Food Prize Council of Advisors and Board of Directors. He is tasked with advancing the Foundation’s mission of addressing global food security and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Vilsack expressed his commitment to expanding the Foundation’s impact, forging partnerships and championing equitable and sustainable food systems. His leadership will complement the innovative programming efforts of Foundation President Mashal Husain. Together, they aim to position the Foundation as a leader in tackling global food insecurity and transforming food systems.
