Aerial view of corn harvestThe latest USDA Crop Progress report shows three states have completed the 2023 corn harvest. And more are closely behind, with a total of 13 out of the top 18 corn-growing states 90% or more completed. This is up from 88% last week and ahead of the five-year average of 91%.

Meanwhile, winter wheat is up 95% planted in the top 18 wheat-growing states, up from 93% the previous week and slightly ahead of the five-year average of 91%. The agency reports 87% of the winter wheat crop has emerged, up from 81% last week and ahead of the five-year average of 85%. However, 17% of the crop is rated in poor or very poor condition, the same as the previous week.
