The USDA has allocated $1.5 billion to 92 conservation projects through its Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). The goal is to address natural resource and climate challenges on U.S. agricultural lands. These projects, supported by an additional $968 million from partner contributions, will help farmers, ranchers and forest landowners adopt sustainable practices.

This investment, funded by the Farm Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act, is part of a broader $19.5 billion USDA initiative for conservation efforts. Projects include reducing livestock methane emissions, enhancing water conservation in drought-prone areas and restoring terrestrial wildlife habitats. A dedicated $100 million supports Tribal-led conservation projects.

RCPP projects are structured through two approaches: RCPP Classic and Alternative Funding Arrangements, which allow partners to work closely with producers on unique conservation strategies. Since 2021, RCPP has awarded over $3 billion to enhance agricultural sustainability and resilience.
