The USDA has awarded over $14 million in grants for 19 Iowa projects designed to increase biofuel access and availability. The USDA said these grants will create jobs, lower costs and promote clean energy.

USDA Director Theresa Greenfield said providing grants for distribution facility owners to install and upgrade infrastructure will help lower prices at the pump. The grants come from the Higher Blends Infrastructure Investments Program. This is part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The largest grant, over $3.5 million, was awarded to Casey’s General Store. It will be used to install biofuel dispensers at stores across more than 125 cities in Iowa. Mulgrew Oil company received $2 million to install approximately 30,000 biofuel storage tanks and loading equipment at their facility in Davenport. The USDA estimates these installations will increase the amount of biofuels sold by 7.3 million gallons per year.
