The USDA Crop Progress report indicated that all six spring wheat growing states began the harvest. South Dakota is leading the harvest with 39% of the crop cut. This is ahead of the five-year average of 37% and 33% at the same time last year. The crop is rated at 7% excellent, 68% good, 21% fair and 4% poor.

The report shares progress in the other five states:

  • Washington has 21% cut with 1% excellent, 16% good, 65% fair and 10% poor
  • Montana has 6% cut with 3% excellent, 65% good, 25% fair and 5% poor
  • Minnesota has 3% cut with 27% excellent, 56% good, 15% fair and 2% poor
  • Idaho has 2% cut with 4% excellent, 65% good, 26% fair and 5% poor
  • North Dakota has 1% cut with 14% excellent, 66% good, 17% fair and 2% poor
