USDA has officially obtained its full year of funding albeit five months late. The White House will release its 2025 fiscal budget proposal today. President Biden signed the $460 billion appropriations bill on Saturday after four separate stopgap bills. Lawmakers now have until March 22 to agree upon and pass a funding bill for the remainder of the federal government.

Within the signed legislation is a clause allowing USDA to become a member of the Committee on Financial Investment which gives the agency visibility to transactions that could pose national security risks. The Senate has passed a full-year funding bill for six federal departments, even as several Republicans have voted against the measure in both the House and Senate.
