Several agricultural organizations reacted to the farm bill framework released by Senator John Boozman, ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. These included:

  • American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall is encouraged with progress in the Senate. He emphasizes there is still much work to be done. Senate Ag Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow and Ranking Member Boozman are urged to find common ground on the critical issues that farmers and ranchers face, including updates to the farm safety net and making crop insurance more accessible.
  • National Farmers Union (NFU) President Rob Larew said farm bills do best when they are bipartisan. He hopes negotiations will result in a farm bill that enhances competitive markets, strengthens voluntary conservation programs, maintains strong support for nutrition programs and boost the farm safety net.
  • The National Cattelmen’s Beef Association said the framework includes top priorities for cattle producers, such as funding to protect the U.S. cattle herd from foreign animal disease, continued support for voluntary conservation programs and other critical food security provisions.
  • The National Prok Producers supports the farm bill framework released by Senator Boozman. It stated that the framework listens to and answers producers’ calls for foreign animal disease prevention resources, expansion of market access, and relief from burdensome multi-state regulations.
  • The Speciality Crop Farm Bill Alliance is encouraged that key investments for specialty crops are included. It urges the House and Senate Agriculture Committees to come together and draft a bipartisan bill that can be signed into law this year.
  • The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) thanked Senator Boozman for creating a new pathway at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the approval of new feed additive products. These additives can improve efficiency in meat and dairy production. The Innovative FEED Act would modernize the FDA’s process of reviewing new ingredients.
