Avocados on treeWhile the conditions created smaller yields in 2023 and a delayed harvest in 2024, California avocado farmers are hoping increased rainfall over the last two years may result in a bigger 2025 crop.

However, rainfall isn’t the only factor contributing to the optimistic viewpoint. From 2013 to 2023, farmers planted nearly 3 million avocado trees in the state. Some were meant to increase production with a higher-density planting model. Others replaced plants lost in natural disasters. Many have reached maturity and are moving into full production.

The Californian Avocado Commission is planning to expand advertising support in 2025 to reflect the anticipated crop.
