The USDA crop progress report for the week ending August 18 showed that corn and soybean quality remained relatively unchanged. The corn crop continues to mature with 97% of the crop silking, 74% has reached the dough stage, 30% is dented and 5% is now mature. All stages are above last year.

As of August 18, 95% of the soybean crop is blooming and 81% is setting pods. This tracks closely with the five-year average.

The winter wheat harvest is now 96% complete, with 13 of the top 18 production states reporting 100% complete. The Spring wheat harvest progress stands at 31% complete. Spring wheat conditions slightly improved over the week, with 73% of the crop now rated in good-to-excellent condition.
