The Senate passed a continuing resolution during an early morning session on Dec. 21, ensuring the government is funded through March 14, 2025. The measure included $10 billion in farmer aid and $21 billion in agriculture disaster aid, including $2 billion earmarked for livestock producers. It also extended the 2018 Farm Bill for another year.

The funds set aside for farmer aid will be used for one-time payments, which are expected to be available 90 days after the legislation takes effect. The USDA will make the final decision on the amount per acre.
