Arkansas Senator John Boozman has been appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. He succeeds retiring Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow.

Boozman previously served as the committee’s ranking member. He spent the past four years as the ranking member and moved into the chairmanship when Republicans took control of the U.S. Senate after the 2024 election.

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar will lead the Democrats as the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture upon Stabenow’s departure. Klobuchar expressed her commitment to collaborating with Boozman to support farmers, strengthen food security, boost the rural economy and promote conservation.

This gives Minnesota leadership roles on both the Senate and House agriculture committees, with Minnesota House Representative Angie Craig also taking on a leadership role.
