The U.S. Senate voted 56 to 42 to confirm Lee Zeldin as EPA Administrator. Many in the renewable fuels industry are looking forward to working with Zeldon.

Geoff Cooper with the Renewable Fuels Association said he’s confident Zeldin will support timely and transparent implementation of the Renewable Fuel Standard. This includes the expansion of lower-cost fuel bends, such as E-15.

Monty Shaw with the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association said the first action is to ensure consumers do not lose year-round access to lower-cost E-15. He said the EPA must move quickly to propose renewable fuel standard (RFS) blending levels that match what Congress intended.

Brian Jennings with the American Coalition for Ethanol says he is looking forward to working with Zeldin to safeguard against the misuse of Small Refinery Exemptions and to move forward on biofuel blending obligations for 2026.
