On November 16, North Dakota regulators approved Summit Carbon Solutions’ permit to run a section of its carbon dioxide pipeline through the state and store the captured carbon dioxide underground.

This approval is a key milestone for Summit Carbon Solutions’ goal of creating the world’s largest carbon pipeline. It will transport carbon dioxide from 57 ethanol plants in the Midwest to an underground storage site in North Dakota.

After Iowa, North Dakota became the second state to approve the permit. American Carbon Alliance CEO Tom Buis said the pipeline is essential for strengthening U.S. energy security, boosting farmer profitability, creating rural jobs and advancing biofuel production.
