The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is working with the Meat Institute to streamline beef and pork exports to Canada.

The neighboring country is a top destination for both American beef and pork exports, but regulatory issues can slow down the process. Some producers have stopped shipments to Canada as a result. The Public Health Information System (PHIS) was implemented recently to eliminate paperwork and speed up the export process. However, there’s room for improvement. USMEF says their team is working with Canada to optimize the process for both countries.
