The USDA reports that U.S. beef exports topped $900 million in May at 110,133 metric tons. This is the highest since June 2023. Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, the ASEAN region, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Central America drove demand.

The volume of exports fell 5% from last year. For January through May, the value of beef exports increased 5% to $4.29 billion, while the volume dropped 4% to 533,578 metric tons.

The value of May Pork exports decreased 2% to $715.8 million. The volume fell 4% to 251,447 metric tons. While exports to Mexico fell below last year, South Korea, the ASEAN region and Central America increased. Columbia and Japan exports were relatively unchanged. Through the first five months, the value of pork exports increased by 7%, while the volume of pork exports increased by 6%.
