U.S. corn and soybean exports are off to an interesting start in 2024. A market analyst with Heartland Farm Partners says both are heading in opposite directions. Corn projections are looking positive with export sales about 30 percent higher compared to last year. Should production problems emerge due to weather challenges in South America, U.S. corn is in a very positive position to benefit.

Meanwhile, soybeans are a different story as South America currently harvests their soybean crop with offers at about $1.80 cheaper than current prices. As Brazil and Argentina pick up more global business, U.S. soy exports could fall as much as 15% from this time last year.
