A new partnership agreement between John Deere and Starlink (the satellite communications arm of SpaceX) will bring better connectivity to new and used Deere equipment in both the United States and Brazil in 2024.

This satellite communication technology will be an add-on option that supports the existing data management and communications systems in John Deere equipment. It can bridge the gap when Wi-Fi and cellular connections are unavailable in more remote areas, allowing farmers greater access to critical technology, data, machine diagnostics and more.

John Deere worked with 40 major vendors on a variety of connectivity solutions before ultimately settling on Starlink. Access to the program is expected to begin later in 2024, though prices and limited-release availability are currently unknown.
