Sunset behind the United States Capital in Washington D.C.Major agriculture groups are calling on Congress to prioritize a new farm bill by early 2024. The bipartisan effort that pushed lawmakers to extend the 2018 bill should now be harnessed for getting the bill done in a timely manner, says the National Farmers Union.

A months-long impasse in farm bill progress has largely centered on larger crop subsidy spending, climate mitigation and SNAP spending. Agriculture groups involved include the National Farmers Union, the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, the National Cotton Council and organic organizations.
