The Next Generation Fuels Act has once again been introduced in the U.S. Senate. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, along with a bipartisan group of Senators, reintroduced the legislation in an ongoing effort to support a robust renewable fuels market while driving energy independence and sustainability.

Grassley says the bill would leverage higher-octane fuels to improve engine efficiency and performance but would also reduce carbon. The added octane value reduces carbon emissions by at least 40% compared to regular gasoline, making the case for higher ethanol blends. Farm groups endorse the legislation, saying it will benefit the ethanol industry and bolster farmer profitability.
