ProAg Cares – ProAg Employees Support Local Communities
ProAg Cares supported the aftermath of a strong storm that came through Ottertail, Minnesota, knocking down many trees. Marlyn Keller was part of a group that grabbed chainsaws, trailers and rakes and cleaned up the debris.
Cherisa Bell helped set up the CROP Hunger Walk by outlining the trail, setting up water stations and sorting shirts. This walk, in Burley, Idaho, is a fundraiser for feeding the less fortunate. With costs rising there are more families in need.
In Montezuma, a small town where Garrett Dorsten grew up, there is a local festival called Zuma Days. This festival helps raise funds for park maintenance, new playground equipment and upkeep of the ball diamonds. Garrett helped with the setup of the food stand and kids stand and getting the stage ready for entertainment.
In Jonesville, Michigan, you will find Beth Rowe serving on the election committee as an election inspector. She reports, “I volunteer my time for all elections and election inspections that occur on an annual basis. Giving back to our community to ensure a fair election occurs is a priority in our country right now. I wanted to do my part.”
Richard Stinson volunteered to cook a meal at our Hermosa Senior Citizen’s Center Senior Meals program. What was on the menu? A New Orleans lunch comprised of shrimp etouffee, dirty beans and rice, andouille sausage and roasted vegetables, honey cornbread, right down to chocolate bourbon pecan pie! After the meal the board of directors had a work afternoon, building shelving, doing some deep cleaning and rearranging the storage space.
Some ProAg employees volunteer their time at their local schools. Mike Henderson volunteered in Malta, Montana as a scorekeeper for the Montana High School Association (MHSA) and Malta High School golf tournament. Mindi Hall volunteered as a chaperone on a field trip to the zoo. Her daughter is in kindergarten.
Chris Hardison’s son plays on the Riverside Knights high school golf team. He used his volunteer day to help as an assistant coach for the team. They had state playoffs and finished fourth out of 12 teams in the 1A state tournament.
Dee Dee Barbee volunteered in Robinson, Illinois for The NOW (Nutrition on Weekends) Program. This program provides a free shopping day for students to pick out school supplies and backpacks. She enjoyed being with the kids and seeing firsthand the excitement as they picked out new school supplies.
